Portable Apologizes to Fuji Maestro Saheed Osupa

Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly apologized to Fuji legend King Dr. Saheed Osupa after a recent online drama. The controversy started when Portable’s song was taken down from streaming platforms because of copyright claims and he was enraged towards Osupa.

The whole thing started when Portable used a line from one of Osupa’s songs in his own song. This led to Portable’s song being removed from Spotify and Apple Music after Osupa and his distribution team complained. Portable reacted by releasing a video where he attacked Osupa for reporting his song, calling him “big for nothing” and saying he wasn’t supporting his career, especially when compared to another Fuji artist Pasuma.

The backlash was fast. Media personality Dotun Ojuolape, also known as Do2dtun, commented on the situation and said “You go collect beating” implying that Portable’s public rant against a big artist like Osupa was a bad move.

Now, he has gone online to apologize for his actions and seek forgiveness from Osupa and his fans. He admitted he acted out of anger and wanted to move past the incident and focus on his music.

King Dr. Saheed Osupa, born Akorede Babatunde Okunola on August 7, 1969 in Lagos State, Nigeria is an iconic figure in Fuji music. He started his music career in 1983 and has released over 40 albums. In 2008 he was titled “King of Fuji Music” by Ayinde Barrister solidifying his position in the Nigerian music industry.
