“I Felt Incomplete When Preaching” – Yul Edochie

In 2023, Nollywood actor and minister Yul Edochie embarked on a spiritual journey that took him back to his roots in Nteje, Anambra State. Despite being a minister of the gospel, Edochie claims that he felt a void, a sense of incompleteness that traditional ministry couldn’t fill.

He shared this experience in a recent Facebook post saying, “In 2023 I started my ministry. While preaching the word of God I felt a vacuum. I felt there was more to it. I felt incomplete.”

During this period of introspection, Edochie recalled a divine message that redirected his spiritual path. He said he felt God telling him to go back to his ancestral heritage, to know and understand his people and their traditions.

Edochie further noted, “Then God said to me, ‘Go home and know about your people. You cannot be preaching about the people of Israel and you know nothing about the people of Nteje. Go home and learn the traditional worship and ways of your people for they are approved by God.’ And when I got back home I was complete.”

Edochie’s post has brought lots of mixed reactions with many bashing him in the comment section. CelebrityNote has gathered some of the reactions:

Chiamaka Ebuka Nnebe said, “Ewoochimoo… seriously na you know the voice wey you hear… God of heaven and earth abi god of Nteje… next topic please.”

Martin Beck Nworah said, “You cannot be preaching about the people of Israel and you know nothing about the people of Nteje. I can’t fault you here, to be honest; these are some profound words for all of us to reflect on. As for who you heard it from, that’s a topic for another day.”

Oyari Eucharia said, “This sounds like a bombshell in my ears. How can you say God said you should go and learn the ways of Nteje, traditional worshipping is approved by Him? People that worship idols. Chaii, what a world. Please don’t use the name of God in vain. Please respect God for Who He is.”

CHi Som jokingly said, “This is very true because I can remember one day I went back to the village and my grandfather told me that grandson, no matter how useless your comment is, there will be someone who will read it till the end.”

Che Housia said, “In 2025, we only believe “God said to me” with photo, audio or video proof. We are no longer in 1990 or in the garden of Eden where Eve’s faith and belief without evidence led to the downfall of man”
