DJ Cuppy claps back at marriage pressure: “I’m Just 32!”

Popular Nigerian DJ Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, recently addressed the pressure she has faced regarding her marital status, humorously reacting to those who have labeled her “old” at the age of 32.

Taking to her X handle (formerly Twitter), the renowned DJ sarcastically questioned the mindset of those pushing her to marry, stating, “I am 32 years old, and some of you people are calling me old.

If that is the case, what are we calling people in their 40s? Prehistoric? Fossilized? Museum exhibits? Nawa.” Her statement reads.

For years, DJ Cuppy has been a subject of discussion for many on social media, particularly regarding her relationship status.

Despite her professional career, fans and followers often feel the need to remind her about the ticking clock of marriage.

In her post, DJ Cuppy humorously pointed out the absurdity of such comments, expressing her frustration over being branded “old” when, in reality, she is still quite young. 

This revealed society’s tendency to place unnecessary pressure on women, particularly those in the public eye, to settle down and get married at a certain age.

In February 2025, DJ Cuppy had made a bold prediction, declaring that the following Valentine’s Day would be the last one she would spend unmarried.

 While this statement hinted at her desire for companionship, it also shows that DJ Cuppy is not rushing into anything clearly valuing the importance of finding the right person rather than simply conforming to societal timelines.

Her ideal man, as she previously revealed, is a 6-footer and a banker, but after a rocky engagement with British boxer Ryan Taylor, which ended in July 2023, DJ Cuppy has since shown that she’s not willing to settle for anything less than what she truly desires.
