The recipients were from the seven quarters that comprised the rural community.
140 bags of rice were given to each quarter to be distributed among their clans.
Mr. Tony Elumelu, who was represented by Ramon Nasir at yesterday’s distribution ceremony in his birthplace of Onichu-Uku, expressed his immense happiness and said it was his way of returning the favour to those who helped him succeed in life and grow.
He said, “Elumelu as a financial guru recognises the fact that his people played a vital role in his upbringing.
As a well-brought-up child, he won’t abandon the society that produced him. Hence, his love, admiration, and seasonal greetings to his own people.”
Nigerian businessman Tony O. Elumelu founded the well-known non-profit Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) in 2010, and it is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.
