“Why I left my N5M weekly job in the U.S. to Serve God”– Pastor Giwa
Amid Nigeria’s current economic challenges, Pastor Adewale Giwa, the Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, has revealed why he left his high-paying job in the United States to return home and serve God.

Speaking to his congregation in Akure, Ondo State, on Sunday, Pastor Giwa explained that his decision was purely based on his strong desire to dedicate his life to God.
He disclosed that he was earning the equivalent of five million naira every week in the U.S. but willingly gave it up to focus on his faith.
According to the clergyman, his resignation shocked his colleagues, especially his white boss, who made several attempts to convince him to reconsider. However, he remained firm in his decision.
“They thought I was crazy when I told them at my job that I was resigning,” Pastor Giwa stated. “The white people came to me and asked, ‘Are you sure you know what you are talking about?’ I said yes.”
When asked what had happened to him, he responded, “Nothing. What I want to do is give my life to God, to be in His presence for 24 hours.”
The pastor emphasized that wealth should not be the primary purpose of life. He urged his members to reflect on their relationship with God rather than focusing solely on material possessions.
“If you think the purpose of coming to this world is to acquire wealth, you have made a grievous mistake,” he warned.
Citing biblical examples, he reminded the congregation that Abraham surrendered everything to God and was rewarded abundantly.
He then challenged his listeners, asking, “Are you ready to sacrifice your career for God? Are you ready to sacrifice your children for God?”
Despite earning millions weekly, Pastor Giwa said he ignored the financial benefits because his priority was to serve God. “If you compare how much I earned weekly, it’s more than five million naira. I ignored these things because I wanted to serve God and be in His presence.”
He further urged people to reflect on their spiritual lives, warning against being too attached to material things. “Where do you want to be when the trumpet sounds? Are you going to be complaining because of your job?” he asked.
