“This man must be ev!!”- Netizens react after Mohbad’s father questions late son’s decision to buy land in grandson’s name

Mr. Joseph Aloba, the father of late Nigerian singer and songwriter Mohbad, has sparked controversy after questioning why his son purchased land in his grandson Liam’s name instead of his own.

During a TikTok live session on February 26, 2025, Mr. Aloba openly expressed confusion over the decision.
A clip from the session, which has been shared on social media, captures him saying, “Mohbad had bought two plots of land at Elepe in Liam’s name, and I don’t know why. As a father, I never bought anything and put Mohbad’s name on it in my life, yet they bought the two plots of land in Liam’s name.”
His statement quickly drew criticism, with many people on social media accusing him of entitlement.
“What type of entertainment is this? This must be very stupid and evil.”
“This man is up to something in Mohbad’s d£ath.”
“Imagine ooo. Wonder shall never end.”
Some argued that Mohbad had the right to decide how to distribute his assets, while others saw Aloba’s statement as prioritizing personal interests over his late son’s wishes.
Many social media users pointed out the generational shift in asset distribution, where young people are making financial decisions independently rather than adhering to traditional expectations.
