Taraba State Governor Approves ₦70,000 Minimum Wage for Workers

In a move to support workers across Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas has approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000. This increase will be effective starting from November 2024. The decision was confirmed by Paul Maigida, the Head of Service in Taraba, in a statement released on Tuesday.

Governor Kefas said that this change aligns with his administration’s commitment to meeting the needs and expectations of the state’s workforce, ensuring they receive fair compensation amidst changing economic realities.

Security Success: Troops Næb Kidnappers in Taraba

In other news, troops stationed in Taraba made a significant breakthrough by arresting 12 suspected kidnappers in Takum Local Government Area. The arrest came after a distress call from Chachanji village on November 7, where locals reported the abduction of two residents by around 10 armed men on motorcycles.

According to Captain Olubodunde Oni, spokesman for the 6 Brigade, the troops acted swiftly, confronting the armed group and forcing them to retreat into the bush. During the operation, they recovered 14 motorcycles, two bags of Indian hemp, and a locally made pistol.

Following the initial encounter, the troops conducted a follow-up operation and successfully arrested the 12 suspects at a local drinking spot in Mbhakyir village on November 9. Their proactive efforts not only secured the release of the abducted individuals but also disrupted further criminal activities in the area.
