Recall that Senator Natasha took her alleged s3xual har@ssment case to the Inter-Parliamentary Union in New York for proper investigations. Stating that her suspension was politically motivated and aimed at silencing her.
Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that her suspension stemmed from a petition she submitted against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over allegations of s3xual har@ssment.
During a Senate plenary on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, Akpabio criticized the Kogi senator for trying to “embarrass the upper chamber by presenting a misleading narrative to the international community.”
“I am aware that she distorted the facts and globalized the matter, embarrassing the Senate by giving a different narrative. I appreciate Hon Kafilat for clarifying to the international media that what was presented was completely different from the reality.”
Akpabio said Natasha brought the matter before the Senate through a petition but did not allow them to examine it. Instead, she took it to court and later to the international community. Actions like these could discourage politicians from appointing women to key positions.
Akpabio, who spoke after receiving a vote of confidence from his colleagues, urged senators to remain focused on their legislative responsibilities and avoid distractions that could derail the work of the Senate.
“I thank you for this vote of confidence. Let us stay focused and avoid unnecessary distractions,”
