Spyro Reveals ₦20 Million Performance Fee and Dispute with Ubi Franklin
Nigerian artist Oludipe David aka Spyro has revealed that his standard fee for performances in Nigeria is ₦20 million. This was disclosed in an interview with Echo Room where Spyro talks about his pricing and professional dealings.

In the interview, Spyro narrated a disagreement with music executive Ubi Franklin, who is clo3se to Davido. The issue was overpayment for a performance. Spyro said Ubi approached him at Iyanya’s birthday party and offered him a performance with Davido for ₦5,000 each. Spyro pulled Ubi aside and said, “Bro, I don’t charge ₦5,000. My minimum fee for performances in Nigeria is ₦20 million.”
Despite his reservations, Spyro had to perform because of the big names in attendance. He said he got to the venue as Davido closed his set and was called on stage immediately after. He couldn’t say no in that kind of situation, so he performed and later confronted Ubi Franklin to settle the payment issue. He said he had to “digger it out” with him afterward.
This has sparked conversation in the music industry and among fans about performance fees and management dealings. Ubi Franklin has not responded to Spyro’s account yet.
Spyro’s open talk has exposed the financial expectations of artists in Nigeria’s music industry and the need for clear agreements between artists and their managers. The situation also shows the challenges artists face in asserting themselves and navigating professional relationships in the industry.
