Senator Natasha F!ghts back as her constituency intensifies her recall

Kogi Central District of Kogi State has intensified its push to recall its suspended Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Thursday 20th March 2025 with more groups in Kogi Central throwing their weight behind the process.

A group of Ebira indigenes refuted the claim that the recall process was being sponsored and influenced with money by Natasha’s political opponents as it was rumoured.

Recall that Senator Natasha was suspended from the Senate, after a heated argument with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over seating arrangements.

The suspended lawmaker, who also accused Akpabio of s3xual har@ssment, had since taken her case before local and foreign media and the United Nations Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The Kogi Central Women Development Association has accused the senator of not prioritizing the interest of her constituency.

Addressing a press conference in Lokoja, the association accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of turning the Senate into a spectacle rather than focusing on governance.

The group criticized her for refusing to apologize to the Senate, stating that her decision to escalate the matter globally instead of addressing it through proper legal channels reflected a disregard for the people who elected her.

However, a coalition of northern youth groups condemned the recall process, describing it as unconstitutional and politically motivated.

Meanwhile, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the recall effort, attributing it to political sponsorship rather than genuine dissatisfaction among her constituents.

In an interview with Sky News on Wednesday, the lawmaker alleged that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made persistent advances toward her for over a year.

According to her, the Senate President continually told her that she must “please him” to enjoy her privileges and perks of office as a senator.

Also, the Ebira indigenes condemned, in strong terms, insinuations that the recall process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was not endorsed by the majority of the electorate in the area.

“No one is sponsoring this recall. Our people are largely united on this cause.” They said.
