Early Life

Senator Monday Okpebholo was born on the 29th of August 1970 in Udomi-Uwessan community, Edo State, Nigeria.

Okpebholo got his Primary School Leaving Certificate from Udomi Community Primary School.

Then, proceeded to Ujabhole Community Secondary School. His primary and secondary school are both located in Uwesan Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.

He eventually completed his secondary education and obtained his Senior School Certificate in Jos, Plateau State.

Senator Monday Okpbholo attended University of Abuja where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Thereafter, he proceeded for his Masters’ degree in Policy and Leadership Studies from the same University of Abuja.

Family and Children

According to a Wikipedia publication, Okpebholo has had two previous marriages, and is currently unmarried.

He however has 4 children from his previous marriages

Okpebholo is a member of the popular Redeemed Christian Church of God, a leading pentecostal church in Nigeria

Political Career

Okpebholo began his career as a businessman. He’s the founder of Monokpebho Nigeria Limited.

His political journey took a significant turn when he contested for the Senate seat in Edo Central senatorial district under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was elected on February 25, 2023.

Okpebholo was inaugurated into the 10th National Assembly of Nigeria on June 13, 2023.

Allegations

Earlier this year, Okpebholo was summoned by Magistrates’ Court over allegations of falsifying his date of birth, stated as 1 August 1977, on his voter’s card.

Meanwhile, his date of birth is reported to be 29th August 1972 on his West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.

Political Endorsement

During the 2024 governorship campaign, Okpebholo was endorsed by Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, who was quoted saying:

“Are you not tired? No light, water, healthcare, security and good roads. If you will vote for senator Monday, raise your hand.”

Senator Monday Okpebholo won the APC gubernatorial primary election for Edo State.

His campaign was marked by endorsements from notable figures and political god-fathers.

Okpebholo was declared the winner of the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election on September 21, 2024 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Okpebholo is currently the incumbent Governor of Edo State

As we’ve mentioned earlier, Okpebholo is a businessman with chains of businesses and he’s reportedly worth over $10 million
