Peter Obi Joins Chimamanda Adichie at London Launch of ‘Dream Count’
Peter Obi was at the London launch of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s new book, ‘Dream Count’ at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. The event was packed with approximately 3,000 people.

‘Dream Count’ is Adichie’s return to long fiction after a 10 year hiatus. The book follows the lives of 4 African women – Chiamaka, Zikora, Omelogor and Kadiatou, as they navigate their personal and professional challenges between Nigeria and the US. The story explores justice, exploitation and female empowerment, as only Adichie can.
Peter Obi spoke at the event and said the discussion between Adichie and journalist Elizabeth Day was fantastic and held the audience throughout the night. He said the event was not only a celebration of literary excellence but a testament to what Nigeria can achieve when we invest in education, healthcare and poverty alleviation.
Obi is convinced that with the energy and brilliance of Nigerian youth and collective commitment and good governance the dream of a better Nigeria is possible. He says all hope is not lost and a new Nigeria is possible.
Adichie’s ‘Dream Count’ has gotten rave reviews with reviewers describing it as vibrant and empathetic. The book is a story of friendship powered by beautifully imagined characters.
