Netizens React as Daniel Regha Drop Reviews on Nigerian Music

Nigerian social media commentator Daniel Regha is always unafraid to speak his mind and his latest music reviews have got the internet talking. He recently shared his thoughts on some Nigerian songs on X (formerly Twitter) and got a mix of agreement, laughter, and backlash from users.

In his post, he gave Teni’s new song “Money” a 3/10 and said “Teni’s new song ‘Money’ literally promotes materialism which takes away the substance in the song; The production was on point, & it’s definitely something new, but asides the second verse, the song passes the wrong message. 3/10”. He liked the production but the message got people talking about how music themes affect society.

He didn’t stop there. He went on to review other songs, he said Novemba and Johnny Drille’s “Hold You Down” is “dope thanks to the verse from Johnny, but a better chorus was needed plus Novemba could’ve put in a little more effort. Good song tho, 5/10”. He also commented on Masterkraft’s “Stay” and said it’s “very simple” and “the DJ effect(s) kinda ruined the beats. One can also mistake the vocals for Don Jazzy’s. 2.5/10”

According to Regha, Dremo’s “New Me” is 3/10, saying it is soothing but lacks depth. Godwin’s “Broken” could’ve been a hit if the vocals and beats were better, thus, it is 4/10. He had mixed feelings about Qing Madi, “Favorite Psycho” is 2/10 but “Akanchawa” is 4.5/10. Magixx’s “Winter & Summer” got mixed reactions from Daniel, a 4/10 rating and he noted that he liked the flow and beats but hated the violent lyrics.

While some praised him for being honest, others disagreed with the review and ratings he gave. See reactions below:
