Joe Ajaero’s Career
Joe Ajaero began his career as a research officer at the One Mechanized Infantry Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1990–1991.
He then transitioned into journalism, working at Vanguard Newspapers from 1992 to 2001, where he served as a reporter, correspondent, and assistant news editor. In 2001, Ajaero joined the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) as the Head of Training/Information and rose to become the General Secretary.
His leadership in the labor movement led to his election as President of the NLC in 2023, making him the first unionist from the power sector to hold the position.
