“If you can’t pay her bills, leave”- Media personality Toke Makinwa tells men

Media personality Toke Makinwa has sparked a conversation about women’s financial expectations in relationships.

On her latest podcast, Toke Moments, Makinwa told her listeners that there is absolutely nothing wrong with women expecting men to pay their bills, especially in relationships where that dynamic works. 

This statement comes as a challenge to societal pressures that often urge women to downplay their desires or lower their standards when it comes to finding a partner.

According to Makinwa, society often places undue pressure on women to conform to certain norms, especially when it comes to choosing a partner.

She urged singles to avoid compromising their standards for fear of judgment or rejection.

“You don’t need to lower your standard,” she said. “There are over a billion people in this world. You can go and find somebody who has what you are looking for.”

Makinwa’s perspective shows an important point about self-worth and authenticity in relationships. For her, it’s not about being materialistic, but rather about understanding one’s needs and desires in a partnership. 

“If you say, ‘Oh, this girl is a money-hungry b*tch. All she wants is a man to pay her bills.’ If you can’t pay her bills, leave. There is another guy who that is what he is looking for,” she said.

Her comments emphasize the idea that relationships should be built on mutual understanding and respect for each other’s wants and needs.

 Makinwa advises against engaging in unnecessary debates or trying to change someone who doesn’t fit into one’s expectations.

“If somebody is not what you are looking for, refuse the urge to start trying to pinpoint what is wrong with them because it is actually a reflection of you and not them,” she said.
