“If police invades a house without warrant, citizens have right to retaliate as self-defense” – Daniel Regha

In the video, the policemen were seen wearing masks and climbed over the fence of the house they invaded. It was reported that these policemen didn’t have warrant for the invading.
Sahara Reporter had reported that the Nigerian Police Force through a spokesman had maintained that the “police have the right to invade any property without warrant as long as they suspect cr!me in the place”
Daniel Regha a popular media personality dared to differ from the spokesperson, he wrote, “Police officers across the globe need warrants before invading into anyone’s home to make an arrest, so that of the Nigeria Police won’t & can’t be different; But if the police wants to play that game, citizens then have right to retaliate as an act of self defense. Cos that’s trespassing of one’s property.”
Daniel thought that police breaking into a property without legal warrant automatically gives residents and citizens right to defend themselves against the police.
In reaction, netizens responded to Daniel,
“When it is suspected that crime is being committed in a given house, the police need not to wait for court warrants to break into the apartment to prevent crimes.”
“Section 10 of the Criminal Procedure Act of Nigeria deals with the arrest of a person without a warrant by a police officer.”
“Are we in a police state? What happened to Citizen’s right to peaceful living?
This is why I advocate 4 laws 2 allow citizens possess guns.
If I see a masked man jump my fence, I will shoot!.
Let’s do it Florida style since we like 2 copy copy 🇺🇲.
Citizens must stand dia ground!”
“If a crime is committed there police don’t need any warrants to arrest or prevent crime make una dey read small books”
“This will be the first time ever I support you Daniel”
“Daniel you made some sense on this …how can an highly respected police officer make such a statement..”
“For Muyiwa to be the PRO u go know how thr IGP go be na 😂😂😂”
“Imagine them putting a mask on their faces wtf are they doing with that, are they trying to assassinate or kidnap d person so nobody will see their faces because of their bad doings. So he expect us open gate for someone we don’t see their faces, just because they are putting on uniform.”
“To be honest, the main issue is that this video has been overlooked, considering that the so-called policemen were invading the property while wearing balaclava masks.”
“I like the way you stand up to these people. Thank you for speaking for the ordinary citizen”
The big questions craving for answer are, “are there exceptions to getting warrant before police invasion of property? If there are no exceptions, what implications would it have on the general peace of society? If there are exception what had the NPF done to sensitize the Nigerian people on such circumstances?”
