HIV Aid Ban: Popular Medic Cries Out – “HIV drugs will now cost N3M”

A medical professional, Baridueh Badon has used his X handle to characterize the situation, sharing the implications to Nigerian people.

In the trending tweet, he posted,

“Keep having sex without condom. HIV drugs will now cost you N3m for 30 days. 90% of Nigerians will not be able to afford it. With Trump cutting funding for free HIV treatment and other HIV programs, the disease will spread like wild fire. Discipline yourself and save your life.”

His statement is an ironical way of trying to discourage Nigerians from having unprotected s€x since the cost of treating HIV will now increase following Trump’s Executive Order to discontinue aid to Africa and other regions.

The post is a clarion call for health awareness and and self-discipline because of the costly implications therein.

The post has stirred a flurry of reactions from netizens.

In response, he has given further analysis of the distribution of major causes of HIV in Nigeria which heterosexual transmission garnered 70-80% according to him.
