He furthered his education at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State where he studied English Language. During his time at OAU, he was an active member in his university music scenes, performing at various shows and events.

Fireboy DML’s professional music career took a big leap in 2018 when he signed with YBNL Nation, a record label founded by Nigerian rapper Olamide. His breakthrough came with the release of the single “Jealous” which was part of the YBNL Mafia Family compilation album.
