On Tuesday, 11th March 2025, Senator Natasha told the UN Inter-Parliamentary Union that she had been !llegally suspended by the Nigerian Senate.

Recall that Natasha, who accused the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of s3xual har@ssment, was recently suspended for six months over her alleged conduct in the Senate Chamber.

Speaking at the Women in Parliament session, Senator Natasha described her suspension as !llegal.

The lawmaker, who broke down in tears while delivering her report, demanded justice, saying she had been silenced.

She said, “I came with a heavy heart from Nigeria. I am not here to bring shame to our country but to seek help for the women in Nigeria.

I was suspended !llegally because I submitted a petition of s3xual har@ssment against the President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

I was silenced and suspended.”

She went ahead to mention the stringent conditions attached to her suspension. She said her security and all official vehicles assigned to her were withdrawn.

Her salary was cut off, she was prohibited from appearing anywhere within the National Assembly, and she must not introduce herself as a senator in Nigeria.

She pleaded with the union to come to her aid as this is a case of political victimization. She also said women’s rights and privileges were not being recognized as there are only 3 women in the Senate out of so many men.
