BREAKING: Ex-Aviation Minister Chidoka Resigns From PDP
Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his temporary withdrawal from active politics. Chidoka, who served as Aviation Minister during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, revealed his decision during a recent public address, where he expressed his commitment to focus on his non-profit initiative, the Athena Centre.
“Earlier today, I sent a letter to my ward in Anambra State resigning officially from the PDP,” Chidoka stated. “I am leaving the PDP, I am leaving politics for some time, and I am focusing on the Athena Centre.”
Chidoka emphasized that his decision was driven by a desire to contribute to the reform of Nigeria’s political landscape. The Athena Centre, his non-governmental organization, aims to promote evidence-based governance and civic engagement. He noted that the centre would serve as a platform to collaborate with like-minded Nigerians who share his vision of transforming the nation’s political system.
“I will work in concert with other Nigerians who want us to reform the political system to bring evidence-based governance and to support it,” Chidoka explained. “So, effective today, I am no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
Chidoka’s legacy in public service, including his tenure as Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps and Minister of Aviation, has been characterized by a commitment to reform and innovation. His latest move reflects a continuation of this focus, albeit outside the formal structures of politics.
