Alleged Defamation: Queeneth Hilbert sues IGP, Destiny Etiko for attempting to arrest her

Popular Nigerian actress Queeneth Hilbert has filed a lawsuit against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and her colleague Destiny Etiko, after an alleged attempt to arrest her.

The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos State on March 10, 2025, sheds light on a dispute between the two actresses that escalated into legal action.

Queeneth Hilbert’s suit stems from what she claims was an unlawful and forceful attempt by the police to arrest her, allegedly instigated by Etiko.

According to Hilbert, the attempted arrest was not only illegal but also a blatant violation of her fundamental human rights. 

She has stated that the police action was an infringement on her constitutional rights, and as such, she is seeking protection from any further actions aimed at detaining, arresting, or interrogating her in connection with a video she posted on Instagram.

The controversial video, which was shared by Hilbert on March 7, 2025, quickly drew attention when it accused Destiny Etiko of engaging in questionable behavior, including allegedly stealing the rich lovers of her colleagues. 

Hilbert’s claims have sparked controversy between the two actresses, leading to Etiko filing a defamation lawsuit against Hilbert in response. Etiko is demanding N100 million in damages for what she terms defamatory remarks made by Hilbert.

In response to the attempted arrest, Queeneth Hilbert is also seeking N100 million in damages for what she describes as an unlawful invasion of her privacy.

She argues that the attempt to arrest her was not only an overreach but also a form of harassment that violated her rights as a citizen of Nigeria.
