Born in 1940 in the ancient city of Ibadan, he gained prominence for his bold teachings and steadfast commitment to truth and justice.

Early Years

Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello was born into a devout Muslim family in Ibadan, Oyo State, to the family of Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello of Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi.

From an early age, he showed a deep commitment to Islamic teachings. By the time he was 10 years old, he had already started delivering public sermons, reflecting his passion for sharing Islamic knowledge.

His father played a significant role in nurturing his early religious education, providing the foundation for his future as a distinguished Islamic preacher.

Education

Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello began his formal education at IDC Primary School, Elekuro, Ibadan, where he also completed his secondary school education.

However, his passion for Islamic knowledge led him to enroll at Mahdul Arabiy, Elekuro, from 1963 to 1967, where he was grounded in Islamic knowledge.

Here, he acquired advanced knowledge of Arabic and Islamic theology.

He also obtained a National Certificate in Education (N.C.E.), specializing in Biology. This academic journey positioned him as both a preacher and a teacher, blending Islamic teachings with formal education.

His uncle was said to have trained him in Quranic memorization and public preaching. He also attended an Arabic school, where his command of the language was established.

He pursued formal education in various Islamic institutions, where he mastered the Quran, Hadith, Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and other essential aspects of Islamic knowledge.

Wife and Children

Sheikh Muyideen kept a low profile yet fulfilled a personal life to the tenets of Islam. He was married and blessed with children who followed his religious teachings. He has a well-known son, Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju Katibi Bello, popularly known as Aponle Anobi, who shared the news of his d£mise.

Sheikh Muyideen passed away on December 6, 2024, at the age of 84. The news of his d£ath was announced by his son, Aponle Anobi, in a social media post and was also confirmed by Sheikh Taofeek Akewugbagold, a respected cleric.

Net Worth

Sheik Muyideen’s actual net worth is unknown however, he was a well-respected philanthropist and influential cleric who has sponsored international missions relating to Islam.
