JUST IN: Court stops CBN from releasing Financial allocation to River State

The federal high court in Abuja, led by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria to stop River State monthly financial allocation.

Joyce Abdulmalik started the Governor of River State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara to go against the constitution by presenting the state’s 2024 Appropriation Bill to a five-member assembly “that was not properly constituted”.

She also stated that the disbursement of River State’s monthly financial allocation since January has been inappropriate.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik also held that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s implementation of the state budget is unlawful and against the 1999 constitution, on which he swore into power.
