10 officers detained as $350k and Jewelry missing at EFCC office

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is facing a major scandal as $350,000 and jewelry have gone missing from the Lagos zonal command.

The incident came as a result of the EFCC dismissing 27 officers earlier for misconduct and fraudulent activities, which has raised concerns about the agency’s accountability.

According to Sahara report, the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, refused to deny or confirm the report.

He only admitted to the fact that 10 officers were arrested and are being questioned regarding the case of some operational items that were missing.

The EFCC is currently under scrutiny for alleged weakness in its internal control.

The case has raised concerns among Nigerians, as some people question the agency’s effectiveness in preventing corrupt!on.

A Nigerian named Aroma Zee, responded by saying:

“This has been going on for years; under the last administration, it was the worst.” You will see how they will be auctioning recovered cars from Yahoo boys at the price of a motorcycle. Some go dey drag PS5 self.” 🤦🏾‍♂️

Another user with the handle @Trust_The_Process commented:

“People that are responsible for cr!me are now committing cr!me 😂; what a country.”

If they can do this, meaning their bosses will be doing more than this.”

Though according to the EFCC, investigation is ongoing as to recover the lost items and funds.
