Yul Edochie whose full name is Yul Chibuike Daniel Edochie born January 7, 1982 in Lagos, Nigeria is a Nigerian actor and filmmaker. He is the last of six children to veteran actor Pete Edochie and broadcaster Josephine Edochie.

Early Life and Background
Yul Edochie was named after the renowned Russian actor Yul Brynner, Edochie hails from Anambra State but was raised in both Lagos and Enugu so he has a dual culture upbringing.
Edochie educational journey started at Lillian’s Day Nursery School and Robinson Street Primary School in Enugu. He attended Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Uturu and several other secondary schools in Enugu and completed his secondary education in 1998. He pursued his passion for Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Port Harcourt.
Career in Nollywood
Edochie ventured into Nollywood in 2005 and debuted in the movie “The Exquires” alongside Justus Esiri and Enebeli Elebuwa. His breakthrough came in 2007 in the movie “Wind of Glory” where he acted alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot.
In 2015 he demonstrated his commitment to nurturing new talents by founding a film academy in Lagos. The Yul Edochie Academy trains aspiring actors and filmmakers and provide them with the skills and mentorship to succeed in Nollywood.
Political Ambitions
Apart from his acting career Edochie has shown interest in politics. In 2017 he announced his governorship ambition for Anambra State under the Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC). His campaign gained a lot of attention especially among the youth because of his emphasis on transparency, youth empowerment and visionary leadership. Though he didn’t win the election Edochie political journey has shown the growing involvement of entertainers in Nigerian politics and has sparked debate about the role of young leaders in governance.
Personal Life
At 22 he married May Aligwe in 2004 and they have four children three sons and a daughter. In April 2022 he publicly introduced his second wife actress Judy Austin and announced the birth of their son. This announcement generated a lot of media buzz and debate about polygamy and personal choices in modern Nigerian society.
