Woman Steals N2 Million by Swapping Cards with Old Woman

In a widely shared video, an unnamed woman is accused of scamming a 58-year-old disabled woman at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The suspect pretended to be the victim’s assistant before exchanging her ATM card, according to a statement made public yesterday, December 19, by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the police command.

A few minutes after leaving the scene, the victim got several debit alerts that amounted to ₦2,000,000, which was taken out in installments.

Any helpful information that could help identify and apprehend the suspect is being sought by the police from the people of Nnewi and the surrounding areas.

The public relations officer was instructed to work closely with the victim to obtain additional information, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, expressed concern over the incident and ordered the use of sophisticated intelligence-gathering tools to identify the suspect and her possible accomplices.

In addition to warning citizens to be cautious while using ATMs to prevent falling for similar fr@uds, the police reassured the public that they were committed to catching the cr!m!nal and prosecuting her cr!m!nal network.
