“Wizkid didn’t sell out the Tottenham stadium and he has not been able to do it” – Afrobeats Podcast

Nigerian Afrobeat songwriter Wizkid held his concert on 29 July 2023 at the Tottenham 45,000-capacity stadium in London.

According to news, it was claimed the show was sold out; news had it that Wizkid was the only Afrobeat artist to have sold out Tottenham Stadium in a show.

Afrobeats podcast with Adesope and Marcey Mae claims the show was never sold out as it was claimed.

“Wizkid didn’t sell out the Tottenham stadium, and he hasn’t been able to come back and do a venue of the same capacity because he didn’t sell out the Tottenham stadium.” — Afrobeats podcast.

Adesope and Marcey claim that as Africans, we will set up our artists for failure if we continue to defend things like this.

A user with the handle @Xaez, who is based in London, also claims Afrobeats podcast is right, as no Afrobeats artist is doing 40,000 tickets in Europe.

“When I said he didn’t sell out, I got insulted; even Burna didn’t sell out too. I still remember lots of free tickets that were given out during Burna’s London show.”

“I keep telling you guys, no Afrobeats artists are doing 40k tickets in Europe; we are not there yet. Forget all these lies you see online.”

“You just need to live in Europe to understand that our artists are not as known as we think. I tour around Europe a lot, so I know this for a fact,” he wrote on X.

Wizkid FC might not like this, as some of the fans disagree with the statement in the podcast despite knowing Marcey Mae worked with Live Nation, which is in charge of the music tour in the UK.
