“Why I Chose Surrogacy” – Ini Edo Reveals

Nollywood actress Ini Edo has opened up on why she chose surrogacy to have her daughter, sharing her personal experience and the challenges she faced. On the new season of “Young, Famous & African”, she answered questions from her co-stars about her marital status and the father of her child.

When asked if she was married, she said “I’m not married” and when asked about the father of the child, she said, “He doesn’t have anything to do with us. We are just two people. Just me and my child”. She stressed that her journey to motherhood was a personal one. In her words, “My journey is one I have not really wanted to talk about because it’s personal”
She further explained, “I don’t think surrogacy is something people just wake up and say that’s what they want to do… But I’ve had issues carrying pregnancies long term”. She added, “I’ve explored my options and I chose surrogacy and I’m very happy with my decision”
In a previous interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ini Edo said she had multiple miscarriages before she chose surrogacy – “I got tired of having miscarriages so I chose surrogacy”.
She also said the eggs used were hers so her daughter is biologically hers. She thanked God for the option of surrogacy and donors “I wanted a child and thank God for the options of surrogacy and donors.”
