The national grid has  collapsed again. This is the 10th time this year and the 2nd time  in just 72 hours.

The national grid collapse has led to a blackout in most parts of the country.

A visit to the Nigerian System Operator’s portal showed that power generation dropped to zero megawatts at about 11:30 a.m., affecting generation companies across the country.

The affected electricity distribution companies shared the update on their social media platforms.

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) serving parts of Lagos wrote on X (formerly Twitter)

“Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today 07 November 2024 at 11:29Hrs affecting supply within our network”

“Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders.

Kindly bear with us.”

The Jos Electricity Distribution Company  said,

“The current outage being experienced within our franchise States is a result of loss of power supply from the national grid”

The data from the National Control Centre (NCC) showed that part of the national grid was not affected by the bulk power disruption.

The Federal Government and the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, blamed poor maintenance culture.

Adding that the facilities are old and inadequate, among others for the issue.

With the concurrent collapse of the power line, and the report from Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos),a lot of people have blamed the government for incompetence.

Here are some comments on the incident on X(formerly Twitter)
