What’s Really Going On With SSSSG and NNPC: Controversial Story.
A group known as Stand Up South South Group (SSSSG), accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other oil godfathers of killing the country’s economy by importing refined products. This was revealed by a statement made by the Group Coordinator, Comrade. Dickson Onisiru. In the statement, the group lamented that between 2007 and this present year the NNPCL has wasted over $20 billion on refinery repairs yet it’s futile as no refinery is working in the country.
The group pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to command the NNPCL to give account of these billions of dollars blown just on rehabilitating the dilapidated refineries. They also urged the Nigerians who are already victims of hunger and inflation to speak up on the issue of petrol as it is fast becoming expensive even to the common man.
Furthermore, they advised the President to not allow NNPCL in conjunction with the oil cabals to ruin his government with their ill operation. The coordinator even went as far as specifically suggesting that certain seats and appointments be brought down.
“ The NNPCL should start the Refineries now or let Mele Kyari leave or be removed from that office for his failure and inability to get the Refineries working”, he said.
Conclusively, the group warned that the fuel importation is done with the deliberate aim of frustrating local refineries. If local production would be boosted, importation must be brought to a big halt.
