“We allowed so much Western influence upon us and we lost our identity” — Yul Edochie criticizes Westernism
Following the trends around the family intrigues of Yul Edochie, the popular Nigerian actor and media sensation, he has taken his Instagram space to express his seeming b!tterness which netizens didn’t take a snap of the fingers to catch.
In his post, he drives the view that Africans should maintain their uniqueness and less of western culture. He moved from how the western lifestyle has influenced the African people from family system to religion to looks and more.
He questioned who told the whites that they could conquer a people and force their religion and way of life on them.
His long criticism is worth spending time to read,
“God, in his infinite wisdom, made us Africans. If He wanted us to be white, He would have made us white. But He made us Black. He made us Africans. Our strength lies in our identity.
Sadly, we allowed Oyibo people to convince us that our ways are evil, that our religion is evil, and we agreed.
We allowed so much Western influence upon us, and we lost our identity. And by losing our identity we’re losing our strength. Show me that God that told Oyibo people to go about and force their religion upon others. Show me that God that told them their ways and religion are the best. Africans want to be white. We copy the whites. We have made the white people a yardstick to measure our success, and by so doing, we are losing our strength as Africans. White people should not be our standard of measurement. They are whites, God created them with their own ways.
There is nothing wrong with copying a few good things from other cultures, but you must not lose yourself in the process. If you do, you lose your strength. We are Africans, God created us with our own ways, and we must maintain our ways, our originality, our tradition, our religion, in order to solidify our place in the world.”
Inasmuch as one can copy a few things from White culture, “you should not loose yourself in the process” he declared.
Careful analysis of Yul’s post reveals somewhat frustration he’s going through especially around May’s surrending of interest in their marriage since he took Judy Austin.

The slamming from fans is uniform and highly heated. Followers tied the post to his failure in running a church ministry and inability to maintain his polygamous views.
