In his recent post, the human rights activist, VeryDarkMan, claims this isn’t the first time the Inspector General is coming out to ban the police from checking people’s phones or extorting money from the masses.

The Inspector General of Police claims they have no right to go through people’s phones but VDM has come out to reveal the real cause of the problem and some potential solutions

“The police on the road are all suffering; that is why they will not stop extorting or checking phones; they live like beggars and animals,” he said.

He also claims the Nigerian police salary is nothing to take home for an officer; an average police officer receives N70,000 to N80,000.

He further explained how he was stopped by a police officer around Eko Hotel in Lagos, who complained bitterly of how the Nigerian police officers were all suffering.

The policeman pleaded with VeryDarkMan to help them speak out using his massive platform on social media so that the government could come to their aid.

VeryDarkMan also advised the Inspector General of Police to restructure the Nigerian police force by increasing their salaries and remodeling their barracks, as well as a good plan on how they will get their pension after retirement.

“IG, the truth is these things would not stop unless you restructure the Nigerian Police Force, or else you will fail like the predecessors before you,” VeryDarkMan said.

The post has stirred many reactions, as netizens are complaining about the Nigerian police force and their continuous mismanagement.

@Bukola_Stella – “Them never ready, if them ready them go enter road do protest….. Them never suffer ooo… More is coming”

@Ogar_Michael – “That is what you get when you allow the politicians to use you against the ordinary citizens. All the police should resign and join the masses to rebuke the politicians who use government office to intimidate us”

@Vkey_Melody – “That’s the game, Keep them poor so they can be used for personal gains when given small incentives.”
@Abdurahim_Abdallah_`Ali If the salary is 70k, how much will then be the pension which is usually a percentage of one’s basic salary during service years? Smh 😒
