“Stop Deceiving Yourself” – Yul Edochie’s Challenge Hypocritical ‘Born Again’ Lifestyles

Yul Edochie, a Nollywood big boy known for his acting and outspoken views has caused a stir on social media with a blunt post to so-called born-again Christians. In his Facebook post, he asked those who claim to be born again to recheck their actions, saying outward change doesn’t mean inner transformation.

In his post, Edochie challenged the notion that being modest – abandoning flashy clothes, heavy makeup and habits like drinking and smoking – is enough to prove one is born again. His message is that true spiritual renewal goes beyond external appearances and involves a heart change in behavior and attitude.

Many Nigerians have noticed a trend where people become born again, yet the moral decay remains which has sparked debates on social media and in church circles with people wondering if external changes are enough to qualify someone as truly transformed. With his voice of authority, Edochie adds another layer to this conversation, asking believers to introspect and be true to themselves.

He said, “Some people will tell you they are now born again. They stop wearing flashy clothes, stop wearing makeup, quit drinking and smoking but the wickedness in their heart remain untouched.”

Edochie went further to add: “Stop deceiving yourself, God is not interested in your style of dressing or all that, he’s interested in how you treat your fellow human beings.” He ended his post by saying, “Born again means living a Christian life and living a Christian life means treating others with love and respect, the same way you want them to treat you.”

Edochie’s post has got many talking and it’s clear to Edochie that being born again is a heart thing and not a change of clothes however, he is known for “not practicing what he preaches“.
