South African Thuso Van Zyl Clashes with David Hundeyin over Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

A recent internet dispute has emerged between Thuso Van Zyl, a South African Pan-Africanist, and David Hundeyin, an investigative journalist.

The c0nflict began with a tweet by Thuso Van Zyl, stating, ‘Imagine arresting Nigel Farage for pushing Brexit in the UK? That’s what Nigeria did, @rrested Nnamdi Kanu for pushing for the independence of Igbo people! Nigerian political leaders don’t deserve Africa’s respect. Mr President (Tinubu) release Mr. Kanu, he has done nothing wrong.’

In response, David Hundeyin tweeted, ‘One of the w0rst things about many people who call themselves “Pan-Africanists” in the modern era is how utterly shallow they are once you scratch 2 inches beneath the surface. Comparing a mainstream politician who campaigned for the UK to exit a supranational union, with an advocate for the Balkanisation of Africa’s most strategically valuable state, who openly and regularly called for an @rmed !nsurrect!on, and then actually fundraised for and led the creation and @rming of a non-state ethnic m!l!t!a that later m0rphed into a térr0rist group that ext0rts and m¥rders Nigerian civilians while destabilising the wider state on behalf of shadowy (Israeli) foreign interests, reveals how empty this character is. This would be like comparing the Irish settlement of Boston with the Dutch !nvasion of South Africa, and then doubling down on the st¥pid non-point when challenged…’

Following this exchange, David Hundeyin blocked Thuso Van Zyl on X. Thuso Van Zyl subsequently demanded to be unblocked, stating, ‘David is a t¥rant, just like the Nigerian president. He criticized me for defending Nnamdi Kanu. I challenged his views, he didn’t like it, blocked me. Can someone pls tell this c0ward to unblock me & come talk to me about this matter instead of silencing me?'”
