Sanwo-Olu, suspends his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media over a tweet

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi over a tweet he made.

A few days ago, Ajetunmobi wrote on his X account that some arsonists who torched the Television Continental (TVC) head office in Lagos during the EndSARS protest in 2020 were “hunted and executed.”

Recall that there were allegations of extra-judicial k!llings during the protest and the Lagos State Judicial Panel on EndSARS and police brutality had indicted Sanwo-Olu in the brutal intervention of the Nigerian Army at Lekki Toll Gate on October 20.

However, the State Government rejected the report indicting Sanwo-Olu and the Nigerian Army.

Ajetunmobi has now contradicted the State Government by saying on X that the majority of the arsonists who burnt TVC head office have been “hunted and executed.” he said,

“The full story of people who burnt down TVC in 2020 will be told one day, with gory clips and images. One thing to note: majority of them have been hunted down and executed.

“One of them, a young boy trading in cooking gas around Ketu, was found with AK-47 at the site. Even his neighbours were shocked. But the full gist is better saved for later,” he wrote.

When asked by a user to clarify his post on the alleged extra-judicial k!llings, he responded.

“Lol… you want to create a narrative in your head. What is extrajudicial k!lling here? Some of the people were chased by Soldiers and exchange of fire occurred. Then arsonists were overpowered and k!lled in the process. Others ran away. Is that an extra-judicial k!lling to you?”

He tried to remedy the situation by deleting the post, but Nigerians have already taken screenshots.

Subsequently, there was a press release announcing his suspension as media aide for “misinterpreting fact.”
