English footballer, Troy Deeney made a controversial statement that has sparked debate after stating that ‘Salah is not world-class’ by not including him in a list he made of football players he thinks are world-class.
Despite Salah’s amazing record of 165 goals in 274 games of the Premier League, Deeney argues that for a footballer to be classified as world-class, he needs just more than huge stats.
He said on SunSport, “It’s about transcending your team, lifting them to glory by yourself,” noting that it’s about the influence, consistency, and impact you make on your team instead of just having “mere numbers”.
He additionally stated that Salah relied on the Synergy of his teammates like Sadio Mane, to make an impact. Troy believes that Salah was more effective when he was playing with Troy and that was his peak year.
