Rapper Odumodublvck calls out manipulated streaming numbers in Nigerian music

Rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known by his stage name Odumodublvck, has recently raised concerns over what he describes as a “high level of stream farming” within the Nigerian music industry.

 In a post on X formally Twitter, Odumodublvck called attention to the manipulation of streaming numbers, arguing that despite the inflated streaming figures, these practices do not lead to tangible results like bookings or ticket sales for concerts and events.

Stream farming refers to the artificial inflation of streaming numbers through the use of bots or other techniques that boost an artist’s streams without genuine listener engagement.

Before now, this practice has long been rumored in various global music industries, and it seems the Nigerian music scene is not immune.

According to Odumodublvck, these manipulations create an illusion of popularity that does not translate into the real-world success artists need, particularly when it comes to booking live shows or selling tickets.
