Police Speak On Alleged Th£ft Of N1.9bn From Enugu Govt Account By H@ckers

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that assertions made in various media reports that fr@udsters stole N1.9 billion after h@cking into an Enugu State Government account are untrue and totally baseless.

On Wednesday, several blogs and websites reported that sc@mmers had gained access to the Enugu State Government’s account and taken N1.9 billion.

But the Police said the story was entirely baseless, while Enugu State Government has not reacted to the claim.

“There has been no hacking of the Enugu State Government’s account, and the allegations of a th£ft amounting to N1.09 billion are entirely baseless,” Olumuyi Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force said in a statement seen on the police official X handle early Friday morning.

Instead, Adejobi said that a N1.09 billion th£ft case that was looked into by the police was about procurement fr@ud rather than cyber fr@ud.

According to the Force spokesperson, the stol£n money has been found and the suspect in the procurement fr#ud has been taken into custody.

He added that the funds have been returned to the Enugu state government.

“The case, which was investigated by the NPF-National Cyber Cr!m£ Centre (NCCC), was a case of procurement fr@ud, not a cyber-breach.

The suspect has been arrested in connection with this fr@ud, and the funds have already been recovered.

The Enugu State Government and other ministries, departments, and agencies of government and corporate firms are in partnership with the NCCC and have established comprehensive and fortified security protocols to safeguard their financial systems.
