Peter Obi sympathizes with the victims of the Ladipo and Owode Onirin fire

Former Governor of Anambra state and 2023 Presidental candidate (Labour party) Peter Obi, has reacted to the devastating fire incident that occurred today February 25th, 2025, at the Ladipo and Owode Onirin Market.

Recall that a fire broke out at Ladipo Market around 1 a.m., burning and destroying several shops and warehouses filled with mechanical tools, spare parts, motorcycles, and household electrical appliances.
Also, another fire erupted at Owode Onirin Market along Ikorodu Road, affecting several shops dealing in metallic materials. Firef!ghters from the Alausa and Ikorodu Fire Stations responded swiftly, bringing the situation under control by 5 a.m.
Posting from his X account (formerly Twitter) Peter Obi sympathized with the victims of the fire, he said,
”The sad news of the fire outbreak at the Ladipo and Owode Onirin markets in Lagos, which have resulted in the loss of goods worth several millions of naira, is deeply saddening.
These tragic incidents, occurring at a time when traders are already facing immense difficulties, underscore the urgent need for decisive action to prevent future occurrences.
My thoughts are with the affected traders and their families. I urge the authorities to provide immediate relief and long-term support to help them rebuild.”
Peter Obi urged everyone to work together to safeguard lives and livelihoods, ensuring such tragedies do not happen again.
