Nigerian model Olajumoke Orisaguna, AKA Olajumoke Onibread, has shockingly narrated her ordeal in the hands of domestic v!ol€nc€ coupled with its effect on her business. Olajumoke was the face of hope and success, something many hoped to achieve as she rose to prominence in 2016, but there is so much more to the story currently unfolding in the shadows.
It was not an ordinary route that Olajumoke took to start her career as an entrepreneur. She became an Internet sensation after she stumbled on a photoshoot session of British rapper Tinie Tempah with renowned photographer TY Bello. This chance led her from being a bread seller to a model that many admired, giving her a sneak peek into another world that she could be part of.
However, underneath this newfound popularity, there existed, in fact, a rather complicated and unhappy personal life, which would not be long in revealing itself.
During an interview with City FM, Olajumoke opened up on some of the issues she went through in marriage to Sunday Orisaguna. She painted a picture that, apart from the difficulty that is inherent in living in Ire, Osun State, she had lots of problems, especially from her mother-in-law. ”We lived in my husband’s family house at Ire in Osun State, and there is no way you live in such a place that some problems will not confront you,” she said, adding that familial roles put a lot of pressure on her marriage.
Throughout the story of Olajumoke’s marriage to her husband, physical v!ol€nce dominated this marriage. She also found out that in as much as there was something that he did not understand, or even when it was a row involving his mother, he would use force. Before he abu$€d me, he would not allow me to open my mouth to defend myself for him to hear. “Whenever I had a misunderstanding with his mother, he would b€at me to the extent that my face and body would be swollen”, she said in laying out the nature of the abu$€ she received.

The change of fortune in the life of Olajumoke Onibread was in January 2016, when she witnessed a very characterized v!ol€nt episode. During the preparation of food for feasting in honor of the d€ad father-in-law, a quarrel with her sister-in-law arose, which again culminated in a severe b€ating by Sunday. “Again, he a$$@ulted me, and I made up my mind that I would pack my things and follow my elder sister to Lagos to look for a job at the bakery since I have worked there before,” she further disclosed.
Olajumoke Onibread moved from her former residence in Abeokuta with her two children and was able to find shelter in Lagos and also start afresh. ‘When I got to the bakery, I had to tell my friend what happened, and she said she was glad that I finally left because she was among the friends who had warned me about him’, she said.
In the course of the struggle to live a new life in Lagos, she had never stopped wrestling with apparitions of the past. ”He would accuse me of sleeping around other men,” she said, going on to enumerate the psychological control that is always present in an abu$iv€ partner’s dynamics. This constant questioning as well as the apparent lack of confidence in her on the part of her superiors made it even more difficult for her to advance in her career.

Nonetheless, this is the story of strength and success, which can be told about Olajumoke Onibread. The fact that she chose to go public about her ordeal is brave and a clear statement of the fact that she would not let her abu$€rs own her story. ”What I am saying now, I have never said it before.” She had to come out and tell her truth.
