Popular Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage, has addressed the ever-booming Nigerian entertainment industry.  Tiwa Savage believes that Nigeria’s entertainment industry is booming because of Poverty.

Speaking at ‘Shopping the Sneakers Podcast’, Tiwa Savage attributed the quick rise to fame of entertainers to the prevalent hardship and poverty in the country.

Most entertainers like actors, comedians, pranksters and social media content creators are into the craft to earn a living.

Tiwa Savage stated that the country’s challenging living conditions pushed a lot of people into the creative industry.

While speaking on the ‘Shopping The Sneakers’ podcast, Tiwa Savage said that the challenges of living in Nigeria drive an uncommon hustle spirit among the young people, resulting in a booming entertainment industry.

“When you come to Nigeria, you will understand why we breed so many superstars. To survive in Nigeria is something else, so that’s why the artists that come out of Nigeria are just like hustlers. They are just hustling” she said.

Nollywood, the country’s film industry, is the largest film industry in Africa and the second-largest in the world by output, while Afrobeats has emerged as earned a global status, with artists like Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, and Davido topping international charts.

Tiwa’s comments resonate with many who view the resilience of Nigerian entertainers as a product of their environment.

Despite economic challenges, the country continues to produce world-class talent, inspiring audiences globally.

Her statement has sparked various reactions online, with many agreeing that Nigeria’s struggles led many to discover their exceptional creativity.

Others praised the determination and grit of the nation’s artists, who turn adversity into success. However, some disagree with the singer’s submission.

Tiwa Savage’s comment comes after Davido was recently under fire for saying Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.
