Sowore joins ‘Egbetokun Must Go’ protest at Abuja court a day after released from detention
Nigerian human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore joined the growing wave of public protest against the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.
The protest, which took place outside the Abuja High Court, has drawn the attention of the public with many praising the activist for always fighting corruption in Nigeria without an iota of fear and compromise.
The protest was organized under the banner “Egbetokun Must Go,” demanding the immediate removal of the police boss.
The peaceful protests, which brought activists together, called for greater accountability within Nigeria police force, accusing Egbetokun of poor leadership, corruption, and inefficiency in handling national security issues despite being the Inspector General of Police.

Sowore, a well-known advocate for human rights and transparency in Nigerian governance, joined the call for Egbetokun’s removal.
The activist, who has faced numerous arrests and harassment due to his outspoken criticism of government officials, was captured at the front lines of the protest, amplifying calls for Egbetokun’s retirement.
The event quickly ignited reactions on social media with many Nigerians supporting Sowore’s participation, viewing it as an important stand against the perceived mismanagement of Nigeria’s security forces.
