Nigerian President Tinubu Set to Attend G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil This Sunday
The 19th edition of the G20 Leaders’ Summit is being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and President Bola Tinubu will go there from Abuja on Sunday.

The dates of the Summit are set on Monday, November 18, 2024, to Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
In a statement on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, disclosed saying, “The Nigerian leader’s participation is at the instance of the Brazilian President and current President of the group, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva,”
Leaders from the top 20 economies in the world, including international financial organisations, the European Union, and the African Union, will attend the meeting on Monday.
On the margins of the conference, Tinubu is also anticipated to undertake bilateral discussions to further Nigeria’s socioeconomic reforms.
Leading government figures such as Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Idi Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture, and Creativity; Dr. Aliyu Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security; and Mohammed Mohammed, Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, will accompany him.
Tinubu is travelling to Brazil for the first time as president on Sunday, marking his 31st international journey since taking office 17 months ago.
He has already spent 125 days overseas, been to 16 different countries, and accrued more than 267 flight hours. The Hague, Netherlands; Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Norvo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; New York, the United States of America; Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Dakar, Senegal, and Doha, Qatar; Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; London, the United Kingdom (four times); Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); and Nairobi, Kenya.
