Nigerian Police Force thr£atens jail term for anyone who refuses to assist officers in danger
The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has thr£atened jail term for anyone who refuses to help a police officer in danger.

This was announced by the Force on Sunday in a statement signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, its public relations officer, with the heading “KNOW THE LAW AND BE GUIDED.”
Refusing to assist an officer who is being ass@ulted or resisted while performing his responsibilities is ill£gal, he said.
He went on to say that such a person faces a N100,000 fine or a three-month jail sentence.
Adejobi added that anyone who interferes with or opposes a public official in the course of doing or attempting to perform the responsibilities of his office is guilty of a misdemeanor and faces a two-year prison sentence.
The statement reads in part, “When a person is called upon to aid and assist a police officer who is, while in the discharge of his duty, ass@ulted or resisted or in danger of being ass@ulted or resisted, and the person refuses or neglects to aid and assist, the person commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of N100,000 or imprisonment for a term of three months or both.”
