Nigerian Kingpin Adegboruwa Sentenced to 30 Years for Dark Web Dr¥g Trafficking in U.S
A 54-year-old Nigerian man named Oluwole Adegboruwa, who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been given a 30-year prison sentence for planning a dr¥g tr@fficking scheme on the dark web.
In addition to his
!mpris0nment, Adegboruwa is mandated to forfeit almost $20 million and will be monitored for the rest of his life.
This penalty represents one of the largest financial forfeitures ever imposed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah.
Judge Jill N. Parish of the U.S. District Court imposed the punishment after Adegboruwa was found guilty, along with co-defendant Enrique Isong, 49, of Los Angeles, California.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, both men were convicted by a jury in May 2024 of money laundering and conspiracy to distribute oxycodone.
Isong received a 10-year prison sentence on October 23, 2024.
Through a variety of dark web networks, Adegboruwa was in charge of selling over 300,000 oxycodone pills between October 2016 and May 2019, generating around $9.1 million in revenue.
He supervised a sophisticated cr!m!nal enterprise that oversaw the buying, packing, distribution, sales, and bitcoin transfers of pills.
DEA Special Agent Jonathan Pullen emphasised, “This sentencing highlights the DEA’s commitment to pursuing justice in the often-hidden world of the dark web.”
