Nigeria has no plans for you –Tems’ manager, Awoniyi, tells youths

Muyiwa Awoniyi, the manager of Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems, has ignited reactions after he declared on social media that “Nigeria has no plans for you.”

His comment, which was shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, quickly drew attention, with many people expressing their concerns. 

According to Awoniyi, the government of Nigeria has shown little to no commitment to the welfare of its citizens, particularly the youth, urging them to stop expecting solutions from the government.

Awoniyi’s blunt statement appears to echo the growing frustration of many Nigerians, especially the younger generation, who feel neglected by the system.

For years, Nigerian youths have faced unemployment, inadequate education, poor infrastructure, and a lack of support for entrepreneurship.

In this context, Awoniyi’s remark serves as a wake-up call to the youth, emphasizing that they cannot rely solely on the government for their success or livelihood.

The sentiment expressed by Awoniyi isn’t isolated. Other prominent figures, including the artist Rema, have also voiced similar concerns.

Recall that Celebritynote reported how Rema, in a recent interview, lamented that many Nigerians, particularly the youth, have lost hope in the country due to the constant challenges they face. 

However, Rema urged the younger generation not to lose faith in the country and emphasized that nation-building requires the active participation of both citizens and the government.

Awoniyi’s statement has triggered mixed reactions. Many youths who feel disillusioned with the state of the country resonate with his words, agreeing that the government has failed to create opportunities or provide the necessary infrastructure for young people to thrive.
