NFP: Netizens backlash, says police are legitimate cr!min@ls

This came on the heels of advice given by the Nigerian Police Force to the general public as a way of containing the misconduct of Nigerian police officers as posted by channels TV.

The Nigerian Police Force has sternly advised the Nigerian people to report any form of misconduct of any police officer to their superiors, the head of Compliant Response Unit in their state or commissioner of police in their state. This was posted by channels TV on their Instagram handle.

In response to the post, it’s seems netizens had continued to express distrust for NPF arguing that an independent body should checkmate the excesses of the Nigerian Police Force and her officers. These are a few reactions to the post

Oga you dey forget say your men are not mentally stable. You dey find person you go ruin his or her life. Na for aboard this kind thing fit dey work but for 9ja we dey so na lie. Make i go report legitimate cr!m!n@l to put my life at risk”

Superiors that they learnt from. Or which one??”

“Sorry Sir…but their supervisor might be the one even backing them”

“And who do we report their superiors and superior’s superior to”

“There should be a commission which supervises police misconducts… police can’t discipline police.”

“Police to report police. Una dey m@d”

“wat if na their superior dem deh work for nko? Reporting dev!l to dev!l expecting sanction na beginning of madness!”

“The same superiors that authorized them to be extorting and harass the citizens ??”

“The superiors that are setting daily monetary targets for the lower ranks. The lower ones have a financial obligation. Police and ajo”

“THE SUPERIOR OFFICERS ARE THE ONES GIVING THEM DAILY TARGETS AND RETURNS… REPORTING THEM MOST TIMES IA WASTE OF TIME BECAUSE THE SUPERIORS WILL COVER HIS OFFICERS”

“Superior that is sending to go and burst boys to bring back return”

If there should an independent body to watch and curtail police officer’s excesses, who do you think should be members of such a body?

Do you think that cr!më will be a history someday in Nigeria?
