Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has shed light on what she claims is the root cause of her ongoing dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In an exclusive interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show, she alleged that the tension between them began due to an unsettling encounter at Akpabio’s residence in Akwa Ibom.

According to a video clip posted on X, Natasha revealed that their issues date back to November 8, 2023, a day before both their birthdays. She explained that she, her husband, and a few close associates traveled to Akwa Ibom for Akpabio’s grand birthday celebration.

Initially, they were at his Ikot Ekpene residence before moving to another house in Uyo around 8 p.m.

Recalling the events, she said:

“He held my hands and said he wanted to show me around his house. My husband was walking behind us, just the three of us. Then, I noticed he hastened his pace while still holding my hands.

But my husband was behind, still on his phone and catching up whenever he could.”

She further stated that when they reached a particular sitting room, Akpabio asked if she liked his house, to which she responded positively, praising the interior. However, what he said next made her uncomfortable.

“And he said, ‘Now that you are a senator, I am going to create time for us to come spend quality moments here. You will enjoy it.’ At that point, I just pulled away because I didn’t understand what that really meant.

And when my husband came close, the way he looked at him and looked at me, I was wondering if my husband heard us.”

Natasha disclosed that they left Akpabio’s house around midnight, and on their way home, her husband questioned what the Senate President had told her. She hesitated to respond because her husband holds Akpabio in high regard.

Summing up her experience, she said, “My case is a case of a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to sleep with him.”

The latest clash between the two senators over sitting arrangements in the Senate, she suggested, is only a continuation of this unresolved tension.
