Mercy Chinwo had earlier filed a defamation suit against VDM, accusing him of making false claims about her involvement in a financial scandal. According to reports, VDM alleged that Chinwo had mismanaged and diverted $345,000 belonging to her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (Eezee Tee).
To support her case, Chinwo presented emails and payment receipts as evidence, insisting that VDM’s allegations were completely baseless and had tarnished her reputation. As a result, the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a summons for VDM to appear before the court on March 13, 2025 to address the accusations.
Despite the seriousness of the claims, VDM’s legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, has dismissed the case, calling it a joke.
“Pay N1.1 billion for what? Over what? I don’t want to discuss this issue because this is not a court of law. And again, I don’t want to reveal our strategies to the other side. So, we have no comment. It [the court case] is nothing serious… It’s a joke. It’s a complete joke.”
Adeyanju’s statement suggests that VDM’s legal team is not overly concerned about the lawsuit and believes it lacks merit.
The court proceedings will determine whether Mercy Chinwo’s claims hold legal weight or if the case will be dismissed as VDM’s lawyer predicts. However, given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved, this case is likely to remain a trending topic in Nigerian entertainment and legal circles.
As it stands, VDM has been ordered to appear in court, and fans are eagerly watching to see how the situation unfolds.
