British-Nigerian Man laments upon returning to the UK from Detty December in Nigeria
A UK-based Nigerian man opened up on his mental struggles upon returning to the United Kingdom following an exciting Detty December in Nigeria.

In a heartfelt video posted days after his return, @odzviewspodcast on TikTok lamented how his high spirits after Detty December in the Nigerian holiday vanished after landing in the UK.

Reflecting on his time in Nigeria, he spoke fondly of spending time with family, enjoying sunny beach days, and soaking up the vibrant culture. Comparing it to life in the UK, he described the contrast as emotionally draining.
In his words:
“This really can’t be life. You see, coming back to the UK after Detty December will really humble you. Once you step off that plane and feel that cold, it will dawn on you. This is not a life I choose to live. Because the UK is bad and miserable.
“Back home, I was with family at the beach, enjoying the sun, and all of that is gone, and I’m back in the UK, and it really hit me like, why am I here? Truly, this place is just horrible! I see why people move out of the UK to Dubai and other countries. The best way to have peace is to have a holiday; fly out of the UK every month because you can’t just stay in the UK for a whole year.”
The video has since gone viral, sparking similar reactions from many Nigerians who wished they could leave everything and return to their home country.
A user with the handle @tunihou_jhoe also lamented by saying:
“This is why I’m packing my bags back to Nigeria; anyhow, anyhow e be back home we will fight it. I’d rather be happy at home than depressed here.”
